SPRING 2024 COMMUNITY CLASSES

8-week session: April 1 - May 31, 2024

These sessions give students in the region a chance to dive into a new endeavor, or hone skills they already possess. Each class meets once a week with the instructor (or instructors), and students are invited to access to the facilities during additional Open Studio hours.

Community Class participants can acquire a rich understanding of the processes and techniques shared with them, with plenty of time to practice along the way.

This class is the perfect place to begin your study of clay, or to refresh your skills if you haven’t been in the studio for a while. We will start at the beginning and learn primary handbuilding techniques and then we will elaborate on those as the class proceeds.

Class Meeting Times:
9:30am-12:00pm, Thursdays

This course will focus on a variety of methods to create pouring vessels, using both handbuilding and wheel-throwing techniques. Instruction will cover both skill sets, allowing students to work in whatever way suits them. Creamers, ewers, pitchers, coffee pots, and teapots will be explored.

Class Meeting Times:
Thursdays, 5:30-8:00pm

We invite previous students of MSS adult ceramics classes and experienced members of the community to further their own study under the guidance of ceramic artist David Eichelberger. Includes access to the studio, use of the wheels and tools and a small section of shelving to store works in progress.

Class Meeting Times:
Sunday, 5:00-6:00pm (First half of session*)
Thursday, 3:30-4:30 (Second half of session*)
