OUR STORY
The Marlboro Studio School is an institution focused on supporting artists at every stage of their careers through a range of community classes, residential workshops taught by visiting instructors, and long- and short-term artist residencies.
Our home base in the visual arts facilities on the 500+ acre Campus at Marlboro Music in Marlboro, Vermont, offers exceptional opportunities in the craft and art education field: studio facilities, housing, dining, a retreat-like environment, and a welcoming community.
As the world continues to speed up, the Marlboro Studio School celebrates the slow and deliberate, and highlights what it means to engage in making special objects by hand. This is a place where students can find contrast to the standard pace of life and tune out distractions while tuning in to their creativity.
WHO WE ARE
Hannah Brookman, Interim Director
Hannah Brookman, born in Denver, CO, now lives and paints in Marlboro, Vermont. She is the founding President of Looky Here, the non-profit thrift store of art supplies, Risograph (cross between screen printing and photocopying) print shop and art book press, gallery and workshop space located in Greenfield, MA.
She is the co-director of The Lovelights, a Montague Community Television show set in Turners Falls Massachusetts which features a family of quirky, artistic, and magical sisters, and she is the illustrator of The Children's Page in The Montague Reporter newspaper, where The Lovelights stories are serialized. Hannah is a graduate of Bennington College, where her student works are part of the permanent collection.
Her work has been shown in sculpture parks, galleries, schools and swamps including The Franconia Sculpture Park in Minnesota, PINK CUBE Gallery in Oslo, Norway, The Anchor House of Artists in Northampton, MA, Stoneleigh-Burnham School in Greenfield, MA and The Swamp Show which was viewed by canoe trips through the Connecticut River Oxbow.
David Eichelberger, Founding Director
David is a nationally-recognized ceramic artist and former Penland School of Craft Resident Artist, and he taught Ceramics at Marlboro College from 2017 to 2020. He is an accomplished professor and workshop instructor, and has pursued the development of the Marlboro Studio School for the last few years.
In coordination with the campus owners, David hopes to cultivate a thriving and productive atmosphere at the Marlboro Studio School that provides a welcome environment to every interested student, and to provide cultural enrichment and opportunities for the Marlboro community.
David Eichelberger is currently a ceramics faculty member at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
